Our members told us that the options available for adults with high functioning autism and Asperger’s syndrome can be very limited as those with an associated learning difficulty often qualify for more services than those who do not.

In response, Autism Bedfordshire established an adult services team that sought to develop and advocate for services for adults with Asperger’s Syndrome or high functioning autism who were at risk of social isolation. Since our adult services team was established we have continued to grow and adapt to ever changing needs yet our vision has remained the same: to empower adults with autism across Bedfordshire. If you would like to find out more information on how high functioning autism and Asperger’s syndrome can impact upon a persons life then watch a film that some of of our members made here called What is normal anyway?

If you suspect that you or someone that you know has autism and you would like to seek a diagnosis then visit the NHS adult autism services website to see how that process works. Alternatively you can download their leaflet here.

We have our own adult services facebook group which provides the latest information and opportunities taking place across Bedfordshire. This group is only open to members who have previously accessed our services or are currently doing so.facebook
