Our Skill Development Courses are designed to help autistic adults develop communication, employment, social and life skills needed to be a part of the local community. To enable the group to work well both together and as individuals, the size of the group is limited to seven and all individuals are assessed to understand their suitability. Courses usually take place for one day a week over a six to eight week period with course topics designed around the needs that are presented to us.
Previous courses have included:
Our workshops are run as one-off events and are held online to be accessible to all areas. Groups can be larger than those of a skills course so more focus is given to a presentation style session, but adults are invited to take part where they feel comfortable. Here are some examples of the workshops we have run previously:
“Since completing the course, I have felt more confident and for the first time in 2 years I’ve not felt like I needed someone to help me cope with my day-to-day life. I thought I knew a lot about autism, which I did, but I now understand my own autism better. I felt the fact that other people on the course validated my experiences and feelings made me more comfortable with my diagnosis and with myself and who I am”
