Summer Activity Schemes 2019

We are now recruiting for our 2019 summer schemes. If you would like to join us for 2019 then please download a date availability form below.

You can return your completed form by email to [email protected] or by post to Autism Bedfordshire, Suite B1, 1 Hammond Road, Elms Industrial Estate, Bedford MK41 0UD. 

If you have worked or volunteered with Autism Bedfordshire within the last 12 months you will not need to complete a new application form. However, we may need to update your records - including a new DBS check.

PLEASE NOTE we can only accept staff and volunteer availability forms for FULL WEEKS. AB operates an Equal Opportunities Policy and every applicant will be judged on individual merit. Please be aware that the compulsory training day will be on Saturday 1st June 2019. If you are unable to attend this for any reason please let us know immediately on the enclosed form.

Support Worker Roles and Responsibilities

Support Workers –  Loads of Autistic Fun in Leighton Buzzard

Part-Time: alternate Saturday mornings during term-time

£8.27 – £8.77 per hour (including holiday entitlement)

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic team players to join the Autism Bedfordshire team. Successful applicants will provide support for autistic children and young people who attend our LOAF groups in Leighton Buzzard.

 Applicants will need to have relevant experience & qualifications:

  • Experience of Health/Education/Social Care Roles;
  • Experience of Managing Challenging Behaviour;
  • Knowledge of Autism;
  • Knowledge of Asperger’s Syndrome;
  • GCSEs or Equivalent Qualifications;
  • Health/Education/Social Care Qualifications (Level 3).

Adult Services

Team Leader –  Adult Social Group

Part-Time: alternate Thursday evening

£9.12 per hour (including holiday entitlement)

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic person to help run our social group in Bedford.  

These groups provide an opportunity for adults with high functioning autism to socialise, gain confidence and develop their skills. The groups meet regularly and enjoy a range of different activities such as attending the local cinema, bowling and visiting different restaurants in and around Bedford town centre.

Key aspects of the role involve planning sessions, working directly with the adults who access the sessions and ensuring all policies and procedures are complied with.

Experience: The ideal candidate will be an approachable person with experience of working with adults with high functioning autism and be decisive and quick thinking.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic person to run our social group in Luton.  

These groups provide an opportunity for adults with high functioning autism to socialise, gain confidence and develop their skills. The groups meet regularly and enjoy a range of activities such as attending the local cinema and bowling.
